Staying Fit with Golf

All sports do some good in terms of helping us stay fit though some provide a higher level of fitness. Swimming is believed to be good for our overall fitness.

Sports enthusiasts go to great lengths and have no qualms travelling far to be able to participate in the sport activity that they enjoy. Sam, a colleague travels abroad to Pattaya, Thailand, to play golf and I am sure he will not mind travelling for a round of Myrtle beach golf, which is widely known as the "Golf Capital of the World,.

Skateboarding is Great Exercise

Even though shopping malls and department stores are still crowded in the evenings and weekends, there is no denying that the economic downturn has somewhat made shoppers more careful about spending their hard-earned money or their reduced income.

More families are spending more time at parks and playgrounds. Local councils have even set up skaetboard ramps providing an added facility for children to expense their energy or to pick up a new sport. Skateboarding is certainly not for the faint-hearted but for those who dare, it can be a fulfilling sport. Great exercise too.

How to Run Better. Go Barefoot

“People have been running barefoot for millions of years and it has only been since 1972 that people have been wearing shoes with thick, synthetic heels,” said Daniel Lieberman, a professor of human evolutionary biology at Harvard University.

He’s sure that running barefoot or with minimal footwear is the way to avoid injury. After all, we evolved without shoes.

Playing Golf is a form of Exercise

These days, our busy work schedule often prevents us from taking time out for recreation or the much-needed exercise. Fortunately, some of us enjoy a round of golf or two and that could double up as a recreational activity and exercise at the same time.

Just like other sports, golf too requires that a golfer has the right set of apparatus or tools. It's golf clubs in this case, plus other golf accessories.

When it comes to golf tools, one is surely spoilt for choice but there are some that stand out among the rest. Get the better brands, they may improve your game and motivate you to continue golfing as a form of exercise.

Anyone for Beer Pong?

We all know that fitness is important but some of us have such a packed schedule that fitness just doesn't fit in. Luckily for some of these folks, social functions are part of their packed schedule. These may include company functions and dinners, invitations to events and family gatherings where at least they get some form of exercise by way of beer pong, that is, if one can call that exercise. lol

Spring Is Here

Spring is indeed here. Gardens are full of blooms of all colours, shapes and sizes. Even trees are blooming such wonderful colours. Spring, though a welcomed season, does bring with it some discomfort for some people who suffer from allergies. All that pollen from the flowers can create some havoc with a sufferer's wellbeing.

Spring is a season for outdoor activities and sports. Town-fairs. charity drives and such activities can draw quite a crowd. On sale could be all sorts of things from books to golf-clubs to saddles, even a good piece of furniture or two. One can certainly find something useful at great bargain prices.

Health and Fitness Go Together

Health is tied in to fitness. So to stay healthy, do keep up with the exercise. Play some games, take up some sport. Which reminds me. Someone sent me a small article about the type of sports people play at different stages of our life and the correlation. It goes something like this.

When we are younger and in school, we play soccer. We start working and learn to play tennis. Then as we move up the corporate ladder, we pick up golf. The moral of the story is, as we move up the corporate ladder, our balls get smaller.

Play Golf to Stay Fit

People in my office engage in a number of sports both for recreation and for exercise. The younger ones take part in football and futsal tournaments. Volleyball, netball, badminton and basketball are other popular games for the younger group.

Recently, line-dancing and aerobics were introduced. Group walking is the latest to join the line-up of exercise activities. Tennis is yet another sport that is fast catching on. For mid-management and senior management, the favourite sport has to be golf. Recently, a group of golf enthusiasts travelled all the way to Pattaya in southern Thailand for a few rounds of golf. They even brought along their own Golf Equipment. I suppose, when one loves a game or a sport, nothing is too inconvenient, even extra luggage is no deterrent.
